Mark Collins BA(Hons), Dip Tui Na, Cert Medical Qigong, Cert Ear Acupuncture (Detox), MChTA, Member of Complementary Therapists Association
Mark currently practises at the Courtyard Clinic, Dursley and Gloucester Natural Therapies Clinic and is sometimes able to do home visits.
Tui Na (pronounced `twee nah') means "push and grasp". It is an ancient healing art of traditional chinese medicine (together with acupuncture, herbal medicine and Chi Kung) and is over 4,000 years old. Mark initially trained with Maria Mercati, the leading exponent of Tui Na and Oriental Therapies in the west, at the Bodyharmonics Oriental Bodywork Centre, in 2004.
Tui Na works on energy channels and acu-points as in acupuncture, but uses the body instead of needles, to generate and balance the flow of energy (chi).
In China it is used in hospitals as a medical massage to treat most common ailments. Tui Na provides complete stimulation of the body's entire musculo-skeletal system, as well as all the internal organs.
Tui Na uses a wide variety of techniques, many of these being quite vigorous, robust and unique, focusing pressure on the acupoints and meridians.
* Stimulates the flow of energy (chi), blood & bodily fluids, releasing blockages, which cause a build up of toxins, pain and possibly swelling.
* Works holistically to realign the body, not only on the muscles and joints but at a deeper level.
* Releases deep levels of tension and trauma from connective tissues, being very effective for treating stress.
* Excellent for treating chronic pain.
* Breaks down knotted or scar tissue, speeding recovery time from injuries and helping to maintain flexibility.
* Boosts the immune system.
* Leaves the patient in a state of deep physical & mental relaxation, revitalised and with a sense of wellbeing
* Neck pain/stiffness
* Back pain/stiffness
* Shoulder pain/frozen shoulder
